Message from the President

2010:  Challenges v. Opportunities

No one in our field can deny that HR professionals are facing challenges:  attracting and retaining talented employees under budget restraints (taking some of our usual compensation and benefit motivators off the table); dealing with looming health care reform; maintaining structure while adapting to increased workplace flexibility; a host of recent and proposed legislative changes; and of course, the weather.

That’s why your BGSHRM Board and I are focused on providing you with opportunities in the coming year.  Engaging with your peers gives you the chance to share ideas and resources, provide more value to your organization through your professional affiliation, and equally important, to have some fun with us.

To make the most of your membership, we invite and encourage you to engage with BGSHRM by:

-Volunteering to serve.  We would love to have your participation on one of our committees this year, and to consider serving on our board in the future.

-Helping us grow our chapter.  Increased membership leads to a stronger and more diverse BGSHRM for us all.  Invite an HR friend, co-worker, associate or vendor to join us at a Chapter  Meeting, forward them our newsletters or send them a link to our website so they can learn the benefits.

-Continuing to strengthen our professional development opportunities.  Take advantage of our offerings, provide feedback and suggestions, and let us know of other options that you may come across so we can hone our skills individually and as a group.

Your time and talents are important to me, the board and the chapter.  Thank you for being part of BGSHRM and have a great 2010!

Sincerely,

Jeri Tackett, President
